2007 Beach Blanket Blood Drive
Hundreds of people in the Ocean City area converged on the Convention Center on January 31 and February 1 for the 9th Annual Beach Blanket Blood Drive. A total of 589 donors registered for the drive and the final unit total was 56 more units of blood than in 2006. Part of this growth can be attributed to 40 Type O donors who had the opportunity to provide 80 units of red cells, thanks to the new ALYX double red cell collection technology.
Special thanks to WBOC and morning news show host, Jimmy Hoppa, shown here with Blood Bank donor services supervisor, Donna Reed. Hoppa provided a dozen live reports every ten minutes during the two-hour news program.
