The 5th annual Summer Blood Challenge 5K was a record-breaker for Blood Bank of Delmarva on Saturday, July 21. An enthusiastic crowd of runners and walkers turned out on a picture-perfect day. A total of 723 participants (up from 667 in 2006) walked or ran in this much anticipated race. This year, the race started and ended at Frawley Stadium on Wilmington's Riverfront.

More than a dozen leaders from the civic and business community came together in support of "VIP Donor Day" on July 11. "VIP Donor Day" is held in support of the Blood Bank of Delmarva's 5th annual Summer Blood Challenge, a Delmarva-wide competition among area employers to recruit the most blood donors and Blood Bank members. "VIP Donor Day" also calls attention to the Blood Bank's Wilmington Donor Center, where it can often be a struggle to fill donation schedules.
