WHAT: Blood Bank of Delmarva hosted Middletown's first community blood drive. This is a new location added to the 31 towns on Delmarva currently visited by the Bloodmobile (the last location to be added was Hockessin more than a year and a half ago). Click HERE for a complete list.

WHEN: Wednesday, August 13 from NOON - 6pm

WHERE: St. Joseph Parish Complex - 371 East Main Street

WHY: By establishing this new blood drive location, residents in Middletown, Odessa, and Townsend will be given the opportunity to donate blood a few minutes from home.

"As these towns continue to experience housing and population booms, it is important for us to provide residents with a convenient place to give blood," said Carrie Aiken, Blood Bank spokesperson.

WHO: Senator Tom Carper - along with more than 80 donors - gave blood at the drive.
