Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30
Responsible for coordination of periodic review and implementation of new Testing and Reference Lab SOP’s and Validation plans. Responsible for tracking approvals and effectivity dates for SOPs and execution/approval process for validation plans. Additional technical writing and document preparation may be assigned as needed. Miscellaneous operations support responsibilities are listed in the Essential Functions table below.
Required Education and Experience

An associate’s degree or equivalent experience or training which leads to a basic knowledge of medical laboratory terminology is required. A combination of education and/or 2-3 years’ experience as a technical writer in a production environment is a plus. Knowledge of writing and editing technical documents and SOP development is a plus. Ability to read, interpret, create, develop and edit SOP’s. Must have a solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and an excellent command of grammar. Ability to have high attention to detail, organize tasks and prioritize those tasks. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people at all levels within the organization. Ability to interpret and apply oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively multi-task and work well under pressure. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience
In addition to education requirements above, proven skills in communication, English grammar, writing or related field preferred.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
None, but certification as a technical writer considered very desirable. MS Office certification or training
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving equipment. The noise level in the work environment of the laboratory is usually very loud.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position successfully.
The majority of the time in the position is spent sitting. Standing, walking, stooping, and bending are also required in this position. The hands are regularly used to write and type. The employee frequently must talk, listen and hear. Weights of up to 25 pounds are lifted and carried in this position. Seeing, hearing, touching, and speaking are all requirements of the position
