STANTON, Del. – Delaware Park Casino booked 71 donors for its second blood drive held on Friday, February 14 (Valentine’s Day), and the casino also presented a $10,000 check to Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD).
Last year, Delaware Park Casino decided to hold periodic blood drives with Blood Bank of Delmarva, and the first draw was successfully held in October. In addition, Delaware Park chooses a charity of the month for customers to donate any of their winnings to, and during that last blood drive, they chose BBD.
As such, during the second blood drive held on Valentine’s Day, Delaware Park presented BBD with a check for $10,000. BBD Executive Director Steve Corse and Account Manager Gia Rivera accepted the donation, and thanked Delaware Park officials for their generosity and being mighty neighborly. (BBD’s Christiana Donor Center and Delaware Park Casino are less than a mile apart.)
“Delaware Park Casino is focused on giving back to the community,” Delaware Park Vice President, Marketing Gina Mancino said. “Each month we select a local charity. As a landmark in this community, we are proud to support these vital organizations who support Delaware residents every day. The donations come from guests, team members and the casino. Proudly, we donated over $130,000 in 2024.”
BBD Director of Donor Recruitment Joanna Arat, Director of Donor Services Megan Johnson, and Communications Specialist Tony Prado also joined Delaware Park Chief Financial officer Kevin Delucia for a brief lunch before heading back to the successful, February blood drive where employees and customers alike donated.
This latest effort resulted in an outstanding 59 units collected, bringing Delaware Park’s total for it’s first two drives to 117 units.
