Blood donors will receive popular horseshoe crab T-shirt

DELAWARE – In celebration of National Delaware Day, Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) is continuing its partnership with local, family-owned lifestyle brand 302 Horseshoe Crab to give away a free limited-edition t-shirt to all who donate blood at a Delaware blood center or mobile drive between July 12th and July 19th.
National Delaware Day occurs each year on July 13th to celebrate the day Delaware officially declared independence from Britain.
This collaboration, back by popular demand, comes at a pivotal time: summer is historically one of the hardest seasons to maintain an adequate blood supply, as regular donors are distracted by vacations, school breaks, and outdoor activities. Meanwhile, hospitals often see a surge in trauma cases, from car accidents to outdoor injuries, many of which require immediate transfusions. In fact, nearly 1 in 4 trauma patients need blood as part of lifesaving treatment.
“Blood Bank of Delmarva is proud to be the provider of blood donations to the state of Delaware, and we’re excited to be partnering with an incredible local business like 302 Horseshoe Crab to spread awareness about the need for this life-saving resource,” said Keith Heim, Blood Bank of Delmarva Vice President, Blood Operations. “We encourage all Delawareans to celebrate the anniversary of our independence by making an appointment to donate near you.”
In light of recent updates to FDA guidance, more people than ever may now be eligible to give. Blood donors can donate every 56 days, and platelet donors can give up to twice per month.
