GREENVILLE, Del. – The Blood Bank of Delmarva is teaming up with the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science to hold a blood drive on Saturday, June 24. The Family Fun Day Blood Drive is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum, located at 4840 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807. Eleven of 28 appointments have been filled. That leaves room for anyone who wants to donate blood and then take in a tour of the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science.

The blood drive is part of the museum’s Family Fun Day event from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., which features activities from more than a dozen community organizations, food trucks, and the opening of the summer exhibit Be the Astronaut. Individuals who sign up to donate receive free admission to the museum for the day.

Blood drive coordinator Cathleen Perrotto has been working with BBD Account Manager Gia Rivera to organize this summer draw.

Blood Bank of Delmarva Director, Donor Resources Nicole Pineault says it’s important to partner with other organizations and institutions willing to help BBD maintain collections during the challenging summertime period. Community blood drives like the one being hosted by the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science this weekend help make up for the shortfall caused by high schools and colleges being out of session and not holding blood drives.
