When it comes to donating blood locally, it’s hard to beat being able to do so at one of the local breweries that partners with Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) each summer. BBD is excited to share that the fourth annual Blood for a Brew campaign will kick off on May 20.
Dogfish Head will get the campaign started with a blood drive at its headquarters in Milton, Delaware on Monday, May 20 from noon to 6 p.m.
The annual Blood for a Brew campaign is critical to raise awareness on the need for blood and to encourage new blood donors to step-up and save a life. The summer period from Memorial Day through Labor Day represents a challenging period in a normal year, with school breaks, family vacations and the holidays. Encouraging blood donations during this difficult summer period is essential to meeting the needs of patients in our community.
BBD has had 19 breweries commit to holding blood drives this summer; this is more than double the number of breweries that comprised the first Blood for a Brew tour in 2021:
