BETHANY BEACH, Del. – The Parish of St. Ann’s Blood Drive brought us 43 donors as well as media coverage by WRDE Coast TV in this lovely coastal, resort town on Monday, September 18.

WRDE reporter Heidi Kirk learned of the national blood shortage last week, just before the Blood Bank of Delmarva declared a local blood emergency on Thursday, September 14. She reached out to Communications Specialist Tony Prado to schedule an interview and media coverage of the St. Ann’s blood drive

St. Anni’s is a monthly, reliable blood drive for BBD Account Manager Bryan Shepherd and Director, Donor Resources Nicole Pineault. Bryan was on site to help welcome WRDE to St. Ann’s.

It’s a convenient place to donate for St. Ann’s parishioners and local residents such as Paul Bolton. Paul donates to give back for when he received transfusions, as he told WRDE: Blood Bank of Delmarva declares “blood emergency” | News | wrde.com

“I had a triple bypass and that requires a lot of blood,” Paul said. “It’s quick. It’ easy. It’s painless. …It’s needed.”

It’s also convenient for St. Ann’s parishioners, such as Pam DiCara, an O negative blood donor who was happy to find the Blood Bank of Delmarva close to home.

Special thanks to the crew of Supervisor, Collections Jesse Latham, Bloodmobile Driver John Toll, Blood Collection Techs Alyssa Dickerson, Mary Adkins, Alexa Ciriano, Toni Ruggiero and Peyton Brown and canteen volunteer Mary Kampman.

Here’s a recap of all media coverage since the latest blood emergency went into effect:
